The big news around here is that a out-of-this-world surf contest called Mavericks is going to happen sometime between now and March 31st. Here's the catch: the date is unknown based on the wave set and the surfers will only have 24 hours notice to drop what they are doing (from near and far, including Hawaii) to get themselves to Half Moon Bay, CA...about 25 miles south of San Francisco. Spectators can purchase tickets to watch the surfers from a boat or they also open AT&T Park for locals to watch the contest from the ball park. Swells are expected to hit at least 20 feet - incredible!
